A painted chairs raffle has netted a Lacombe program that helps feed the hungry a $8,700 donation.

This year, 48 Lacombe-area businesses contributed their time and creativity to help paint nearly 50 Adirondack chairs. These chairs were then raffled off to support the Fill A Fridge program, run by Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services.

Nowco Home Hardware organized Chairs for Charity for the fourth year. Tickets were sold from July 11-21 for $5 each. There were record-breaking numbers set for ticket sales and money raised. This year, in partnership with Lacombe & District FCSS, the charity event raised $8755.00 for the Fill a Fridge Program.

The Chairs for Charity project started in 2018 as a collaboration of downtown businesses to decorate downtown during Lacombe Days and raise money for a local charity. To date, the charity has raised $23,400.00 for local non-profits.

The Fill a Fridge Program enables eligible families to purchase groceries of their choice. FCSS program is unique as families can choose their own food items. Last Christmas season over 600 local individuals accessed the Fill a Fridge Program.
