Charges laid in Maskwacis homicide

Two men face charges of second-degree murder in connection to a stabbing at Ermineskin Cree Nation on April 11.

Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence at 6:19 a.m. during an alleged home invasion involving a number of suspects who forcibly entered the residence.

Albert Dean Wildcat, 51, of Ermineskin Cree Nation, died due to his injuries on April 15.

An investigation resulted in the arrest of Leon Clark Ermineskin, 25, and Justin James Larocque, 33, both of Ermineskin Cree Nation. They were charged with aggravated assault and additional charges, and were remanded into custody.

An April 22, Ermineskin and Larocque were charged with second-degree murder.

Both were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on April 27.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further details will be provided regarding the accused.
