Chauncey Classic to raise money for Alberta Mental Health Association.

Sean Corrigal, also known as Chauncey, passed away by suicide just over one year ago.

This Saturday, his friends and family will honour his memory and support the mental health of Albertans during the first-ever Chauncey Classic.

The outdoor hockey game will take place at the Oriole Park rink, with a meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. where teams will be selected and the game taking place shortly after.

At 7 p.m., the players will head over to Leah’s Bar and Grill for music, snacks, a 50/50 and prizes.

All proceeds from the Chauncey Classic will go towards the Alberta Mental Health Association.

Corrigal was just 36 years old when he passed away.

“He was a devoted family man who loved his family deeply, including his dog Cali,” his obituary states.

“Sean had a huge heart and was very protective of those he loved. He had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party.”

According to the Facebook event page, about 50 people plan to attend the Chauncey Classic, with another 80-plus individuals interested in attending.
