Making their way through a smoke-filled room at Safety City in Red Deer from the left, William Shaw, Lolan Leighton, and Rebecca Shaw find their way to the bedroom door.

The Families Living Together Home Schooling students along with others attended the afternoon session to learn about what to do in the event of a fire in their homes.

After a lesson with City of Red Deer fire prevention officer Steve Gailloux, the children put into practice a fire evacuation plan and found their way to safety in the smoke filled rooms of the mock-up house.

Safety City has a number of programs to keep children safe including pedestrian safety, acreage and farm safety.
