The City of Red Deer is accepting applications for Leading Forward economic incentive funding programs.

Starting Monday, developers and property owners in Red Deer can apply for funding from the City of Red Deer’s Leading Forward Economic Incentives Program. The program, an expansion of existing opportunities, aims to promote new development in the downtown and, ultimately, encourage vibrancy in the city’s core.

Three types of funding options are available, including:

• Demolition of Vacant and Derelict Properties Rebate – This existing program has been expanded from downtown only to city-wide

• New Residential and Mixed Use Development Grant – Greater Downtown Area

• New Residential Units in an Existing Structure Grant – Greater Downtown Area

Goals of the program include investing in the future of Red Deer and creating opportunities for development.

“Our community has shown remarkable resilience through our province’s recent economic challenges and in weathering the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Ken McMullen, acting general manager of development and protective services.

“These funding opportunities encourage development and redevelopment throughout our city, along with creating quality residential development in the downtown, which will foster an active and vibrant core.”
