As the temporary closure of City of Red Deer recreation and culture facilities has been extended, under new provincial rules, no date has been set for the start of winter programming.

The planned Jan. 12 registration date no longer makes sense given the continued uncertainty surrounding the extension of public health measures — as well as the possibility of new measures.

The decision was, therefore, made to again delay winter programming and registration. A definitive date for winter registration will not be confirmed, however more information will be released in the coming weeks.

Until then, Red Deerians are encouraged to “keep moving and enjoy the great outdoors.”

Activity reservations can be made for the Ice Oval at Setters Place at Great Chief Park. Outdoor skating is also available at over 77 outdoor rinks in the community, as well as Bower Ponds.
