The City of Red Deer is introducing a new online platform to enhance public participation.
Engage Red Deer is an “innovative” platform that will redefine how residents interact with their local government and contribute to municipal decision-making, states a release on the city’s website.
By visiting engage.reddeer.ca, Red Deerians can access a range of features that aim to be user-friendly and foster more inclusive and transparent decision-making.
“It’s another way we are continuing to improve dialogue with citizens, and create additional opportunities for residents to influence municipal decisions that impact them and their community,” said Tara Shand, Community & Public Relations Manager.
Engage Red Deer will serve as a central hub, providing citizens with ways to share their insights and perspectives.
The platform will host surveys, virtual workshops, citizen registries. Beyond providing opportunities for input, the platform will also keep residents informed about upcoming and ongoing projects. It will also “close the loop” by sharing how their input has influenced decisions, states the city release.
On this site, residents can join the Engaged Citizens Group to complete surveys and participate in a variety of discussions on topics that matter to them,” said Shand.
The Engaged Citizens Group is open to anyone who lives in Red Deer. It is another way for the City to listen to the community. Input collected will help inform decisions related to City services, policies and projects, such as planning, roads and transportation, sport and recreation, arts and culture.
“Engage Red Deer is a reflection of the City’s ongoing efforts to engage citizens and ensure more voices are heard in shaping Red Deer’s future.”
