Fitness and fresh air will be on offer at Great Chief Park beginning Tuesday.

The city has introduced outdoor fitness classes at Setters Place in the park.

“We’re excited to start providing outdoor fitness classes as a way to encourage Red Deerians to stay healthy, active and socially connected,” said recreation superintendent Barb McKee.

“The large open space at Setters Place offers plenty of room for people to participate in a variety of activities while following physical distance guidelines.”

Registration opens Thursday. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Participants are required to arrive not more than 10 minutes before the class starts, and to leave within 10 minutes of the class’s end.

Washrooms are available, but there is no change room access.

Participants should use hand sanitizer before and after class, remain two metres away from others and not share equipment. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should refrain from attending classes, says the city.

Classes will be cancelled in bad weather. Participants will receive a full refund.
