City of Red Deer ratifies union agreement with IBEW

Red Deer city council accepted, ratified a new collective agreement Monday

Red Deer city council accepted and ratified a new collective agreement with the union represents 45 inside and outside workers in the Electric Light and Power department.

On Monday, the agreement between the city and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 254was announced.

The agreement covers such roles as powerline technician, journeyman electrician technician, electrical engineering technologist and designer classifications.

This new agreement is effective from Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2023. The new collective agreement includes wage increases, that are reflective of this specialized labour market of 2.25 per cent Jan. 1, 2022, and 2.5 per cent Jan. 1, 2023.
