Recognizing that acts of kindness are especially important at this difficult time, the City of Red Deer is launching an online platform to collect stories of caring.

Acts of kindness and caring are happening throughout our city, as people support each other through the pandemic.

Red Deerians are encouraged to help build a “kindness collection” by submitting stories about random (or planned) acts of kindness they’ve heard of, witnessed, or participated in.

The site will be an extension of We Are Red Deer, and will feature “positive community stories, kindness inspiration, events, and local business directories.”

“Red Deer cares. This statement has rung true time and again over the last year,” said Tara Shand, corporate communications manager.

“Stories of kindness and support have warmed hearts and inspired others to pay it forward, but a cohesive collection of these great stories was lacking. We’re pleased to now have a place where these stories can be collected and shared with anyone who needs a positivity boost,” she added.

One way to show kindness is to support a local business, said Shand, who noted the Red Deer Cares site features online directories.
