Red Deer city council has officially started recruiting for a new city manager.
On Monday, council unanimously approved hiring an unnamed recruitment firm to start the process.
Council also approved the appointment of Tara Lodewyk, formerly planning and development manager, as the interim city manager until the position is permanent filled. Her appointment will last until March 2022 at latest.
The city manager’s position was vacated in May after Allan Seabrooke unexpectedly announced he would be retiring after two years at the helm.
The former Ontarian said his Red Deer stay was shorter than anticipated, but the pandemic made him reconsider his plans and highlighted the need to “reconnect with family.”
Seabrooke had moved to Red Deer after his predecessor Craig Curtis retired as city manager in March 2019.
