The city of Red Deer is working with the River Bend Golf and Recreation Society to develop a new vision for the River Bend Golf and Recreation Area.

The new master plan for the area will establish a 20-year site vision, designed to identify “guiding principles and actionable strategies to optimize the site with the broadest and most impactful community benefit in mind”.

The plan will examine trends in sport, recreation, the natural environment, and consider new and emerging needs, interests, and opportunities.

“River Bend is one of many outstanding nodes in our Waskasoo Park System that truly creates that ‘City in a park’ feel in our community,” said Sarah Tittemore, Community Services General Manager. “As we work to develop a long-term future vision for golf and non-golf activities and infrastructure, we want to hear from residents about their aspirations for the future of the area.”

Over the next month, three virtual workshops will be held. April 26 and 28 from 6-7:15 p.m. and May 5 from 6-7:15 p.m.

Residents can also give feedback via an online survey, which can be found at www.reddeer.ca/riverbend. The survey closes on May 6.

In a release, the city said to make sure the plan truly reflects the views of the community, it will be available for public review later this summer. The master plan is expected to be complete in Mid-September.
