The City of Red Deer’s modified Toys for Tickets program returns for 2021.

The annual donation program in support of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau will return this November in a modified format, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead of motorists donating toys in lieu of parking ticket payments from Nov. 1-30, the city will make a financial donation, based on the total value of early ticket payments for parking tickets issued during the month of November.

Up to a maximum of $6,300 will be donated, which was the City’s average contribution to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau between 2016-2019.

“The health and wellness of all Red Deerians remains top of mind for The City,” said Amy Fengstad, the city’s parking and licensing supervisor.

“After a successful modified Toys for Tickets program in 2020, we’ve decided to continue with the revised format for this year. We’re asking the community to once again help us support the goal of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau of ensuring all children in Red Deer receive a gift on Christmas morning.”

Red Deerians who wish to support the Red Deer Christmas Bureau directly can contact the organization for donation options. For more information, please visit www.reddeerchristmasbureau.com.
