Ten per cent of students and staff are currently away due to medical illness at half of the schools within the Clearview Public Schools division.

Donalda School was the latest to experience the 10 per cent metric, identified by the Government of Alberta for reporting to Alberta Health Services.

Big Valley School, Erskine School, Gus Wetter School and Stettler Elementary School are also experiencing more than 10 per cent of staff and students being away due to medical illness.

“Individuals have reported to most schools listed they have tested positive for COVID-19. Following the protocols from Alberta Health Services, Clearview staff will not be identifying or contacting close contacts,” the school division said in a statement.

“Schools continue to remain open and we are working closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff. Our current safety protocols include: enhanced cleaning and disinfecting, daytime custodial staff, staffing masking in common areas, and hand washing and sanitizing.”
