The Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre and Coats 4 Kids are set to host the 61st annual Charity Check Stop on the weekend.

Coats 4 Kids will be held on Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Taylor Drive, just north of 32nd Street.

“Drivers are encouraged to pull into the dedicated charity checkstop lanes on Taylor Drive to donate gently used winter clothing and items for kids or adults, or make cash donations for crime prevention,” a release states.

The fundraiser will continue until Oct. 22, where Central Albertans can drop off gently used coats and winter items for kids and adults. They will then be cleaned and distributed to families in need. Other winter items such as mitts, gloves, toques, scarves and ski pants will also be accepted.

Additional drop off locations includes Classic Cleaners, The Coverall Shop, Sterling Cleaners, Village Dry Cleaners and Mustang Laundry.

Last year’s Charity Checkstop saw over 450 winter items collected for families in need.

“Central Albertans are very generous, and we hope to match or do better than 2021,” the release reads.
