The Community Response Fund is now accepting applications.
The fund, launched by United Way Central Alberta and the Red Deer and District Community Foundation, is open to agencies serving vulnerable populations.
It is intended to assist with expenses that have suddenly risen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In some cases, agencies have seen demand for their services increase as much as 400 per cent, according to a press release from the two organizations.
“In this time of crisis, collaboration in support of our most vulnerable is very important,” the release said.
“The joint efforts of the Red Deer and District Community Foundation and United Way Central Alberta will ensure the process is easy for agencies and allows funds to get out quickly.”
