Crews are working to realign Waskasoo Creek in Red Deer.
The realignment of the creek near the walking bridge will straighten the flow of the creek and prevent erosion of the embankment.
As part of accessing the site, rig mats are being placed on portions of the trail near Gaetz Avenue bridge as well as just west of Waskasoo crescent.
There are no trail closures in effect, but there may be short delays for pedestrians when equipment is on the trail.
Construction has begun and will continue until approximately Sept. 15. There will be some activity following construction for surface restoration.
Signage is in place to alert pedestrians of construction activity in the area.
