Bowden Institution has recovered a package containing drugs and cellphones on the perimeter of the prison.

Correctional Service Canada issued a press release that says that on Tuesday at about noon, staff found a package containing cellphones, hash oil, heroin, crystal meth and other contraband items.

The estimated institutional value of the drugs seized is $41,420.

The police were notified and the institution is investigating.

Correctional Service Canada has a number of tools available that are consistently used to control the flow of drugs into prisons, including ion scanners and drug dogs to search buildings, offenders and visitors.
