Red Deer city council will hear from residents about a proposed bylaw amendment that would allow hotel rooms to be converted into apartments in the Bower neighbourhood at a public hearing on Sept. 30.
The hearing gets underway at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
Residents may also submit a letter or a petition to be included in the council agenda by Friday.
Council will consider amending the Land Use Bylaw to add a site exception to allow as a permitted use a maximum of 47 one-bedroom multiple family residential units from hotel rooms at the Travelodge Hotel (2807 50 St.).
The area is currently zoned as C4 Commercial (major arterial) District.
