Police say an investigation began when they received information that there was a credible threat against the life of the witness.

The person cannot be identified due to safety concerns.

Evidence gathered in the investigation resulted in an arrest in Leduc, just south of Edmonton, earlier this week.

Stephen Campbell, who is 46 and from Lodgepole, Alta., faces several charges which include counsel to commit murder and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

He remains in custody and is to appear in Leduc provincial court on Dec. 3.

Police say the investigation continues to determine whether others may be charged.
