CALGARY — It was a brief court appearance for two brothers accused in an attack on a 17-year-old girl in Calgary earlier this month.

Corey Manyshots, who is 25, and Cody Manyshots, who is 21, are charged with kidnapping, uttering threats, sexual assault causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm.

The case was put over until Thursday because Cody still needs a lawyer and Corey just retained his.

Police have said the girl was waiting at a bus stop when she was dragged into an alley and sexually assaulted.

She was then taken to a house and repeatedly sexually assaulted before she escaped the next morning.

Mark Takada, who will be representing Corey, told a judge he needed time to go over the details of the case.

“I don't want to do it unless I'm well prepared, because the charges are serious, and there's a potential to be held in custody for a long time before there's a trial,” Takada said outside the courthouse Friday.

He said he expects to ask for a bail hearing at some point.
