The Red Deer Swine Technology Workshop typically draws more than 150 pork producers and farm employees from across the province to the city.

October 2020 was supposed to be the 25th installment of the event, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and gathering restrictions, the organizing committee made the decision to cancel the in-person portion of the workshop.

“It is with a lot of regret that we have chosen not to move forward with this year’s swine tech,” said Alistair Bratton of Olymel, who serves as chair of the organizing committee.

“We are evaluating virtual options for participants, but at the present time, we have no firm plans to continue with the workshop until 2021.”

In 2019, the event was held at Westerner Park.

Alberta Pork is a founding member and proud supporter of Swine Tech.
