The City of Red Deer lowered its flags to half-mast on Wednesday to pay tribute to workers killed or injured on the job.
April 28 is observed across Canada and in countries around the world as the “Day of Mourning” for workers killed or injured on the job.
Mayor Tara Veer attended a private ceremony at the Fallen Worker Tribute in Bower Ponds and paid tribute to workers killed on the job, and the importance of workplace safety and injury prevention.
A proclamation was read and flags are currently at half-mast at City facilities in dedication.
