The City of Red Deer is reminding citizens that there is one week left to submit nominations for a Mayor’s Recognition Award.

The Mayor’s Recognition Awards honour citizens who have made contributions to our community or brought honour and recognition to Red Deer. According to a release, the awards are a way of acknowledging and congratulating our citizens for their accomplishments.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, April 19 at 9 a.m.

The awards are open to anyone who lives in or contributes to our community. There are five award categories: Athletics, Distinguished Voluntary Service, Fine & Performing Arts, Community Builder Award and the Mayor’s Special Award.

Typically, nominees are considered for an award only in the year immediately following the year in which the achievement occurred; however, as this year’s awards encompass two years, nominees will be considered for an award for two years following the year in which the achievement occurred.
