Delburne-area farmer joins Red Deer County mayoral race

Delburne-area farmer Jim Wood has joined the race to replace Red Deer County Mayor Earl Kinsella, who will leave office in fall.

Delburne-area farmer Jim Wood has joined the race to replace Red Deer County Mayor Earl Kinsella, who will leave office in fall.

Councillor Wood, who represents the easternmost division in the county, announced on Tuesday that he will make a bid for the Mayor’s position during municipal elections, which take place across the province on Oct. 18.

He joins former councillor Stan Bell of Sylvan Lake in the running to replace Kinsella, who announced earlier on that he will not run again.

Councillors Penny Archibald, George Gehrke and Jim Lougheed have each announced that they will seek reelection in fall. David Hoar and Reimar Poth have not stated their intentions.
