Tickets are now available for the Evening of Decadent Dessert fundraiser for an organization that helps children with special needs and their families.

The Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre’s 23rd annual event is its largest fundraising event of the year.

The Evening of Decadent Dessert will be held Friday, May 12, at the Parkland Pavilion at Westerner Park. It starts at 5:30 p.m.

The funds raised support programs and specialized equipment purchases, as well as fee assistance for families struggling to afford Aspire fees.

The centre is still looking for silent auction items, raffle donations as well as event sponsorship from businesses and individuals.

Tickets are $100 per person, or $750 for a table of eight. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the ticket price. In the past, the event has sold out.

The evening includes a champagne reception with live entertainment, buffet dinner, several raffles and a silent auctions, as well as the live auction of 50 different incredible cakes and desserts created by local bakers.

Fund development co-ordinator Karen Jackman said the $5 tickets for the Children’s Raffle – with a grand prize of a 2017 Jeep Patriot valued at $34,743, second prize of a violet sapphire ring worth $5,000, and a third prize of $2,500 cash — have started off strong but they still have a ways reach their $50,000 goal.
