A Drayton Valley man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a Red Deer man on Nov. 14.

Red Deer RCMP said they were called a residence near 58th Avenue and 69th Street to assist EMS, who had responded to the sudden death of Dennis Anderson Edwards, 37.

After further investigation, Red Deer RCMP believed the death to be suspicious. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and an autopsy was completed by the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

On Tuesday RCMP investigators arrested Jordan David Ruff, 29, of Drayton Valley, and charged him with first-degree murder. Ruff remains in custody.
