Home Church in Red Deer will host a pair of drive-in fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve.

The church announced on Facebook earlier this week that they will host the drive-in event in their parking lot located just off Highway 2.

The first display will take place at 8:30 p.m. and the second is planned for 11:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to stay in their vehicle at all times.

The display is free to attend.

The City of Red Deer said they will not be hosting a fireworks display this year.

Some other municipalities across the province, including Stony Plain, Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie are all providing drive-in fireworks displays on Dec. 31.

The Town of Sylvan Lake, which usually holds a fireworks display on Jan. 1, has cancelled that event.
