A 31-year-old man is dead after his pickup truck hit a guardrail and rolled into a river southwest of Rimbey on Monday morning.

Rimbey RCMP said they received a report about 9:45 a.m. of a single-vehicle collision on Township Road 420, near Leedale, about 20 kilometres southwest of Rimbey.

The driver and lone occupant was found dead at the scene.

Police said the pickup was heading eastbound on the township road when it hit a bridge guardrail and rolled into the river. The driver’s body was found in the water.

RCMP air services and the Ponoka County Fire Department conducted a search of the river and surrounding area to make sure there were no other people in the vehicle before the crash.
