Drivers are being asked by Airdrie RCMP to consider alternate routes and avoid travelling northbound on Hwy 2 in the Crossfield area.
A semi tractor trailer unit has overturned and police expect the highway to be closed in that area until 5 p.m. today while it is being cleared away.
Traffic is being diverted onto Hwy 72, but it is still backing up on Hwy 2 due to a “bottle neck effect”, RCMP said.
