Turning Point Society is teaming up with Shining Mountains Living Community Services and Red Deer Queer Community Association for a drop-in testing event for sexually transmitted infection on Nov. 26.

The event will be held at the Urban Aboriginal Voices Society, located at 5015 48 St. Unit 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nov. 22 to 28 is International Testing Week, which is an opportunity to generate greater awareness around sexually transmitted blood-borne infection, while also offering free testing, safer sex supplies, snacks, resources, and referrals.

Provincial COVID-19 mask and social distancing protocols will be in effect throughout the event. Anyone refusing to follow protocols, or who is exhibiting flu-like symptoms, will be refused entry.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a mask. Those without a mask can pick one up upon entry.

Warm clothing donations will also be accepted during the event for those in need. Priority donation items include coats and parkas, gloves and mittens, boots, hand and feet warmers, socks, pants, sweaters and hoodies, and travel-sized hygiene items.
