Two Red Deerians were arrested by Drumheller RCMP earlier this week.
On Monday, at around midnight, Drumheller RCMP received a complaint of “suspicious activity” at a local hotel, police said Thursday morning. While investigating the complaint, two suspects were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
A search of the suspects and their vehicle resulted in a significant seizure of fentanyl. Police located 273 grams of fentanyl, as well as seven grams of methamphetamine. As well, an imitation firearm was seized.
A 53-year-old man and 41-year-old woman, both of Red Deer, were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
They have been released and are scheduled appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on Aug. 19.
