Drumheller RCMP has recovered stolen property and charges two people following an investigation into a series of break and enters, including to Canada Post locations in Carbon, Sundre, and Cremona.
On Sept. 22, Airdrie RCMP were called to a Petro Canada gas station, where a man allegedly pointed a firearm at an individual following a verbal altercation.
On Oct. 10, Didsbury RCMP responded to a reported break and enter at the Cremona Canada Post office.
Five days later, Drumheller RCMP responded to a report of an attempted break and enter of the Carbon bottle depot and the theft of a 2019 Ford F150. Calgary Police Service recovered the stolen pickup truck in Calgary two days later.
Drumheller RCMP were then dispatched on Oct. 23 to a report of a break and enter to the Carbon Canada Post and Carbon farmers exchange. There was also a second attempt of a break and enter to the Carbon bottle depot, according to police.
On Nov. 16, Sundre RCMP were dispatched to a report of a break and enter to the Sundre Canada Post.
This past Wednesday, RCMP executed a warrant in Calgary, where items stolen from three of the break and enters were believed to be stored, said police. As a result of the search, police located and seized the following:
- Stolen property from the Cremona, Carbon, and Sundre Canada Post break and enters;
- A large quantity of stolen mail;
- Clothing and tools utilized in the Cremona, Carbon and Sundre Canada Post break and enters;
- Substances believed to be methamphetamine and psilocybin;
- A black airsoft gun;
- An extendable baton.
A 37-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both of Calgary, are charged with four counts of breaking and entering, three counts of mail theft, four counts of wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of break-in instruments.
The man is facing additional charges as well. He has three separate court dates. The first two were scheduled for Friday in Calgary as a result of the Airdrie incident and in Drumheller as a result of the Carbon incident – the third is set for Monday in Didsbury as a result of the Sundre and Cremona incidents.
The woman will appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on Dec. 5 and Drumheller Provincial Court on Dec. 9.
