Drumheller RCMP has seized drugs and laid trafficking charges after searching a residence in Nacmine.

In the early morning of March 26, the Drumheller RCMP, Crime Reduction Unit, and General Investigation Section, executed a CDSA search warrant at a house in Nacmine.

Police seized quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and more than $2,000 cash, as well as various drug paraphernalia.

Mandie Sarah Marie Manchuk, 44, of Drumheller, is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Manchuk was released from custody with conditions, and is scheduled to appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on May 21.

“This was a significant seizure of fentanyl from within our small community,” says Staff Sgt. Ed Bourque, Drumheller RCMP detachment commander.

“We know that opioids are a great concern… and we will continue to target drug traffickers,” added Bourque, who encouraged the public to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
