EDMONTON — A judge has acquitted an Edmonton man charged in a crash that killed a Good Samaritan two years ago.
Andrew Green, who was 46, was struck and killed on the side of the Anthony Henday highway in June 2012, after pulling over to help a stranded driver.
Green, who had recently moved to Edmonton from Toronto, was helping change a tire and was putting down traffic triangles when he was hit.
Kieran Porter, who is 37, was charged with careless driving and hit and run.
The judge ruled some evidence inadmissible and said the Crown did not prove that Porter was driving the vehicle that struck Green.
It took police several months to find Porter with the help of a tip to Crime Stoppers.
