A man is facing three charges after a speeding sport-utility vehicle smashed through a fence and plowed through a house in Edmonton.

EDMONTON — A man is facing three charges after a speeding sport-utility vehicle smashed through a fence and plowed through a house in Edmonton.

Police say they got call early Monday about a driver who was seen heading in the wrong direction in the city’s northeast.

The driver wouldn’t stop, so the police helicopter followed and watched as the SUV reached speeds of 120 km/h.

The vehicle failed to stop at a T-intersection, hit the curb, caught some air and smashed through the fence and plowed through the dining room and kitchen before stopping in the garage.

Craig Daniel Head, who is 28, is accused of impaired driving, dangerous driving, and flight from peace officer.

He is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

A ripped-up fence post was tossed through the air and went through an upstairs window into a room where children were sleeping.

The driver was sent to hospital with minor injuries, but no one in the house was hurt.

The family won’t be able to return to their home as investigators have determined that the structural integrity has been compromised.
