Edmonton police say their homicide section is investigating an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday.
Police officers on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle around 12:30 a.m.
Investigators say officers left the vehicle and one of them fired his service weapon toward the vehicle.
Police say they are now searching for the occupants of the vehicle.
They say it’s unknown whether the driver or anyone inside was injured in the shooting, but note that no officers were harmed.
Edmonton police say they have contacted the director of law enforcement who directed they do the investigation.
They added that the Alberta Serious Incident Response team, a police watchdog in the province, has been notified.
