EDMONTON — A 19-year-old driver who hit and killed a man in a marked crosswalk in Edmonton has been fined $2,000.

Emily Holmes also had her licence suspended for two months.

She was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and careless driving in January.

Witnesses told police a Chevy Cobalt was heading north on 101 Street and made a left-hand turn onto Whyte Avenue.

The vehicle then hit 27-year-old David Finkelman, who later died in hospital.

His mother said in an impact statement read in court that she is “haunted” by his final moments.
