Red Deer Major Crimes is now assisting Olds RCMP with its continued investigation into a child abduction case that happened in Bowden Thursday night.

The seven-year-old girl was on her bike in town and had a small black dog with her when an adult male drove up and grabbed both her and the dog.

The incident took place at or near the corner of 22 Street and 18 Avenue in Bowden and it is believed the man drove directly out of town after the abduction.

Around 8 p.m., the suspect dropped the young girl and the dog off on a gravel road northwest of town and the girl walked to a nearby farm house.

The helmet the girl was wearing was recovered Friday near the farm house but her purple bicycle, which has a basket hanging from the front, has not yet been located.

The suspect is described as having a thin build, medium or olive skin tone with facial hair stubble, dark hair and eyes, with a tattoo on his lower left forearm. He was wearing jeans and a blue shirt.

The truck is described as having four doors, a silver or gold colour with possibly large wheel well moldings.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything to call the Olds RCMP at 403-556-3323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
