Eight bands will perform over two days at the “Don’t Call it a Comeback Weekend” at The Vat in Red Deer.

The Sept. 10 and 11 event is being planned as a fundraiser for the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre by Proud Dad Promotions. Admission is pay what you can at the door (minimum $1 cover). Doors open at 9 p.m.

The line-up of bands includes local five-piece metal band Brown Dwarf, head-bangers Umi Yokai, hip-hop group Chad L.E., punk band Puckered Up and others, as well as bands from Edmonton and Calgary.

The event’s co-host is central Alberta activist Cheryl Jaime. Indigenous artist Day One will be creating live paintings at the event. Each purchase of a $5 raffle ticket will mean an entry into a draw for a painting.

Organizer Brett Tronnes said all proceeds will benefit the Native Friendship Centre programs.
