An elderly woman was killed after being struck by a Peterbilt semi-tractor on a farm property north of Ponoka on Tuesday morning.
Her son, 36-year-old Blair Jason Hinkley, was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with impaired driving causing death and causing death while operating a vehicle while having a blood alcohol content of more than .08 per cent, say Ponoka RCMP.
RCMP responded at 8:45 a.m. to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Shirley Hinkley, 75, was struck when the semi-tractor was being driven out of a building on the property, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the RCMP.
Blair will appear in Ponoka provincial court on Friday.
