Ellis Bird Farm tree topples

A 50-year-old tree was uprooted and crashed onto a memorial garden at Ellis Bird Farm during a storm on Monday. Strong winds hit the farm about 5 p.m. Several tree branches were damaged, and the wheelchair path to the Butterfly Garden was closed because of branches on the path. Farm site services manager Myrna Pearman said extensive pruning will be needed to clean up the damage.
