An RCMP Emergency Response Team was called to Red Deer on Wednesday evening during a disturbance that closed roads in one neighbourhood for hours.

Red Deer RCMP said in a statement on Thursday morning that they were called to the disturbance at a residence in the Normandeau area, which is on the north end of the city.

Police secured the location to ensure public safety and an Emergency Response Team from Edmonton was brought in to assist. Roads in the area were closed for approximately seven hours but have since been reopened.

RCMP said that the public was not in any risk during their investigation.

Police have not released any other information.
