At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Red Deer City RCMP were called to a scene on Jaspar Crescent where a male was alleged to have threatened to commit suicide.
The male would not comply with police requests and had barricaded himself in his residence. In the interest of public safety, the Emergency Response Team was called to assist and after nearly six hours of negotiationing the male was taken into police custody without incident.
The male was later transported to the Red Deer Regional Hospital for assessment.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
