A three-day preliminary hearing has been set for this fall for a Sylvan Lake man accused of murdering his wife.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, 41, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Kulvinder Sandhu, last Sept. 14.

Sylvan Lake RCMP said they were called to a local home at about 10 a.m. on Sept. 11 and found Sandhu’s wife badly injured.

Satnam Sandhu was arrested at the scene.

Kulvinder Sandhu, 36, died three days later in hospital.

Satnam Sandhu made a brief appearance in Red Deer provincial court on Monday morning through a closed-circuit video link with Red Deer Remand Centre.

Red Deer provincial court Judge Gordon Yake set a Sept. 21-23 preliminary hearing and ordered that a Punjabi interpreter be available for all three days.

Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there is enough evidence to take a case to trial.
