A family of four is homeless after a fire in a Riverside Meadows four-plex on Saturday.

Red Deer fire prevention officer Tim Kivell said the call came in at 12:19 p.m. for the fire at 5815 57th Ave.

The fire began in a storage area under the stairs in one of the suites. It caused about $20,000 in smoke and heat damage. No one was injured.

Canadian Red Cross stepped in to help the couple and their two children.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
