A large farm shop was destroyed in a Tuesday night blaze east of Penhold.

Red Deer County firefighters were called to a farm about 8:30 p.m. near Hwy 42 and Range Road 263, about 15 km east of Penhold.

The shop was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, says Red Deer County Fire Services.

Three county fire stations and the technical rescue station responded, as well as pumpers from Delburne and Elnora fire departments.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

It took several hours to bring the fire under control.

High winds blew smoke from the fire across Hwy 42, leading police to issue a caution for drivers using Hwy 42.
