Farmers upset with a proposed farm safety bill will be protesting today at 11 a.m. at the Westerner in Red Deer.

That’s also the location of today’s town hall meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. between the Alberta government and participants to discuss changes to legislation governing safety on farms.

Opposition to Bill 6 has been growing. A protest at the Alberta legislature drew 1,000 people on Monday.

The bill would make Workers’ Compensation Board coverage mandatory for farm workers and would cancel the agriculture sector’s exemption from occupational health and safety rules.
