A public forum on the federal election will be held tonight at the Red Deer Polytechnic Arts Center.

The 5:30 p.m. event is hosted by the Students’ Associations of Red Deer Polytechnic in partnership with the Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce.

It’s open to students and community members who want to learn more about the candidates running in the Red Deer-Mountainview/Red Deer-Lacombe ridings.

The Forum will be moderated by the Students’ Association President Savannah Snow. Organizers say they are working on a livestream option, “but if not, it will be recorded and posted to the Students’ Association Facebook Page after the conclusion of the live event.”

Eleven candidates will be in attendance representing the Conservative, Liberal, New Democrat, Libertarian, Maverick, and People’s Parties, as well as an Independent.

“Youth involvement in political matters are so important! We must realize that the future is truly in our hands. It’s up to us to be informed, do our research, and make the best choice. Exercise your right as a citizen and bring the change you want to see in government! Your voice matters!” said Savannah Snow, president of the Students’ Association of Red Deer Polytechnic.

Rick More, CEO of the Red Deer and District Chamber said, “We’re pleased (to be) giving Central Alberta voters the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates vying to represent us in the House of Commons for Red Deer Mountain View and Red Deer Lacombe.”
