Fentanyl and firearms seized from Red Deer home in RCMP drug operation

RCMP found drugs, firearms, ammunition and stolen bicycles after descending on a Highland Green home last month.

Blackfalds RCMP launched a drug investigation earlier in the month and after getting a search warrant police went to the Highland Green home. They found 2.5 ounces of fentanyl, 23 grams of methamphetamine, morphine pills, firearms and ammunition and five stolen bicycles.

Blackfalds RCMP General Investigation Section with help from Blackfalds RCMP Detachment members, Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, Red Deer RCMP Serious Crimes Branch and RCMP Police Dog Services joined forces for the bust that saw two men charged.

A 52-year-old Red Deer man is facing three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of possession of drugs. He was released from custody and is due in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 28.

A 45-year-old Red Deer man was arrested on outstanding warrants and is facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking and four counts of failing to comply with release orders. He was released from custody and is also due in court on Oct. 28.
